A1C down from 8.6 to 7.0!! Still not prego:(

I'm back with good news!! After 3 months I was able to lower my A1C to a 7.0 which I am thrilled with since my levels have not been that good for at least 7 years!! My husband and I are still actively trying to get pregnant and now I am noticing that my cycle is changing... It used to be 34-35 days long and this past month it was only 28 days... Any clue why?? I would also love to hear any other advice on increasing our chances!! I'm not a smoker or a drinker and am not overweight...

If your cycle is changing it's going to be harder to predict when is best to try to conceive. I posted some stuff about tracking your cervical mucus to determine the best times to conceive around ovulation in a post about using an ovulator kit? You may want to read that, I pulled that material from a website on tips for successfully conceiving and I can say it worked for me but my schedule's been super regular. It may take you a little while longer, 2-3 months until your cycle is consistently around the same length of time. If it's changing you don't have quite the same guarantee. Tracking when you ovulate will probably be helpful for you. Best of luck and congrats on the lower A1C!

Congrats on getting your A1C lowered, that is great! I can honestly tell you that I am not sure why your cycle is changing, however I highly recommend using ovulation kits! There are several brands that make them, I used the Clearblue brand, and the first month we used, we got pregnant! Using these kits, it gives several pointers for irregular cycles and such! I used it not exactly sure of how long my cycle is, varied from 28-31 days since being off of birth control, so I started using the urine sticks on day 10 of my cycle, which is what they recommended for someone unsure of their length of cycle, so granted it did take 2 kits (each is 7 days worth of urine sticks, much like a pregnancy test), these detect an LH surge in the urine, that occurs about 24-48 hours prior to ovulation! Best of luck to you and your husband!

Thank you both for the replies!! Up until this past month my cycles have been consistently the same length so I was thrown for a loop to start 5 days early! If I'm not pregnant by my next cycle I will definitely be buying the ovulation predictor kits!! Have either of you heard anything about fertility supplements that are supposed to boost your chances of conceiving?? I'm a little leary of them until I find out more info.! Thanks

I've heard a mixed bag. One thing you will have consider, that many others don't have to, is what affect they may have on your blood sugar levels. I know women who have to take fertility hormones often experience periods of higher (and harder to control overall) blood sugar issues. Something mimicking that in the form of a supplement (and not well-regulated) puts you in a rockier boat. Unless you've already undergone a fertility screening and been told about specific concerns, this isn't something I'd be pursuing in your shoes, that (however) is simply my personal opinion.
