      good news

      Hi all

Well, I have some good news; just had my 3 month scan and the 'wagbean' looks good; nuchal fold was 1.7mm (5mm with my T21 pregnancy) and nasal bone clearly visible. Obviously still feeling a little wary about shouting in from the rooftops, but we are cautiously excited. Its so nice to look at our little picture and thinking of a little person developing rather than a not very well baby with an uncertain future.

On the diabetes side everything fine, going into my 13th week I am finding my insulin needs starting to increase in particular my carb ratios appear to be shooting up. How were other people's experiences going into the second trimester?

      Liz x

Liz I'm so excited for you! That's HUGE. hooray!!! I didn't notice a substantial increase in my insulin needs until around week 18 and it's just been steadily increasing every since (just past the 25 week point so less than 2 weeks and I'm in the 3rd trimester). Your next fun appointment will be, if you opt for it, the gender determination ultrasound (usually around weeks 18-20). Keep up the great work

Congratulations Liz that is wonderful news! I actually had to decrease my insulin rates significantly during my first trimester and only started to see an increase beyond my usual around 25 weeks. It's hard for me to really make any sweeping generalizations though since I rarely see any sort of pattern to what my blood sugars are doing - basically I'm just testing lots and correcting with food or more insulin as needed
