Mixing food

I'm trying to figure out how different food mix will effect my bg level. I know how high fat\protein effect my bg as well as how fast acting sugar does but what happens when you mix the 2? Lets say I'm eating slow acting carbs like french fries or pizza and then I drink something sugary like lemonade or have a sugary desert. Will the fat slow it down as well or will it just cause the spike for the fast sugar while the slow carbs absorbed slowly as they normally do?

I was trying to experiment with this a bit but I think my honeymoon makes it more confusing so I'm asking you guys.

good question Corwin!! and something I was wondering about too.... if I fill up on steak ... then go low for whatever reason... will a fast sugar act as fast as normal to help me or will the steak slow it down??

I think that if you eat everything at once, the effect of all the carbs will be slowed. If you mix something like pizza with a sugary drink, you might have more of an immediate rise than with just pizza alone, but not as fast with just drinking a regular soda.

I had a really nasty delayed high a few days ago when I went chocolate crazy. Against my better judgement I stopped in a fancy candy store http://www.dylanscandybar.com/index.jsp and told myself I could buy a few pieces. A few pieces turned into half a bag, much of it chocolate and black licorice, my two big weaknesses. Was fine an hour later, then was at 233 a couple of hours later. Corrected, another hour goes by and I'm 350. Corrected, another hour and I'm only down to 339. Went for a brisk 40 minute walk, came back home, and was 80.

All of the fat in the chocolate delayed the carbs, thus the rise several hours later that kept going up. After the 80, I ate dinner and was fine for the rest of the night and the next morning.
