| | | Daily Long-Acting Usage I was just curious as to what types of long-acting insulin people are on, and what dosage they use per day? One shot a day? Multiple shots? |

I use another 20 units on top of that for carb intake. And I even think my 34.53 is too high. I plan on making a bunch of changes to my treatment method come October 1st when I move out on my own and can get everything set to my lifestyle then.

I am considered extremely resistant to insulin. I use 100 units of Levemir a day just for long-acting. |

| | | I'm taking Lantus...currently 20 units a day...once a day.
I use Humalog for meals, with a carb ratio, and it varies day to day. Somewhere between 10 and 20 units a day I would say. |

| | | My basal on my pump is currently 11.95 units of Humalog. I actually use a little less because I suspend the pump when I shower (miss about.3-.4 units for that) and I also set a temporary basal rate a lot in the afternoon when I go for a walk. I lose only .2-.3 units for that.

From the other responses you can see the general trend. That amount of basal is usually only required in very large, type 2s. It might be that you are not a simple T1, but have other issues.
Also, most people seem to find that Levemir does not last 24 hours so two shots are required. (Lantus lasts somewhat longer, but many still get better results with two shots.) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
