I think the honeymoon is over.....

Well I've had to increase my lantus in the past few days from 5-10 units. My numbers are getting worse. Today after having my usual oatmeal( which is never a problem meal for me) I was 170 two hours later. This is totally bumming me out. Oh also I took 5 units of symlim before breakfast. I haven't had to do any boluses since dx in feb, the lantus was totally holding me. I don't know if I should start doing bolus's for meals or what ? I don't even have a ratio yet. This is now whole new territory for me ...HELP!

I would think bolusing is called for, but most important is don't ignore the higher readings. Going to that level regularly is damaging as you know. Bolus for the carbs or reduce them.

Well, it sounds like the honeymoon may be over. OR your beta cells may just be AWOL temporarily, and come back to work later. In any case, you might want to talk with your CDE or endo about a starting carb ratio based on your vital stats for meal boluses, and then go from there to adjust as needed.

Good luck on this next stage of the big adventure with D!
