Can you eat that?

I must get that question once a week, and to be honest it both makes me laugh and annoys the **** out of me. Most of the time I shrug and say stick around and lets see, it could be fun for everyone.
Does everyone else get some silly questions like that and how do you normally respond?

I get it sometimes, not a lot though... mostly people at work offering me sweets and jam filled sugar coated doughnuts... THAT annoys me.

So then they said to you," Just paw the carpet once for each sugar cube you want."

Yes I get it! For future reference, let them always be referred to as FOOD NAZIS.

I had a great one just a few weeks ago!
I love to bake, and my friend had just had a little girl, so, at Molly's welcome supper I baked a white chocolate and raspberry swirl cake. As I was placing it and a knife on the table, I was asked by a rather large (I'm talking 4 times my size) guy I know "should you be eating that?". I looked him up and down, explained that I was serving it, not gobbling, and as he cut himself a huge chunk said "and anyway... should YOU be eating that?!".

I wasn't popular with him for it, but i say whats good for the goose, is good for the gander..

I just say "I can eat anything as long as I take the dose to match it." And that's pretty easy for people to understand.

Haven't faced the question in a while though.

I have friends that want to send me healthy recipes, usually something that I can't eat, like with rice. Then when I tell them I can't have rice much (seldom ever), they are always so surprised "because Chinese people are so healthy, and they eat it all the time." Then they will ask me if I am sure I can't have "this or that". Duh, I have only been dealing with this for a lifetime, I am so glad you decided to educate me. Of course I don't say that, I just say Thanks for the recipe and let it go...well, until someone asks me how I liked the recipe I didn't try.

Depends on the person. If it's someone I like, I'll be surprised they brought it up but I'll elaborate and remind them I'm on a regime that lets me eat and do what I like. If it's someone I don't like, I simply say, "I've had diabetes for 8 years. Do you really think you know what I can and can't do better than I do? Are you a doctor? No, you f***ing aren't."

The running joke at my office seems to be "Becky, crank that thing up to stun- we're having donuts at today's meeting!" My co-workers all know that I use a pump and have gotten over most of their food nazi ways. When they don't, I remind them that they sound like my grandmother and that usually puts an end to it. Truthfully, I think the T2 ones are jealous that I can have have a donut and still have a normal BG 2-3 hours later.
