I've been on isulin for a year and a half now. Last October I caught a cold for the first time since diagnosis, in fact I caught several colds in a row. My bolus ratio went from 25g/unit to 10g/unit. I'm nearly fully recovered now though my ratio is stuck at 15g/unit. What's really weird is that I forgot to take my basal (normally 6IU Lantus at night) once and woke up with a bg of 5.2 mmol/l. That day I had very good control. A few days later I tried again, this time missing two nights in a row of basal. I woke with bg's of 6.1 then 7.5. An upward trend but withing normal "random" variations I normally have. I've gone back to taking a basal again now though as I felt slightly "off" which I couldn't rule out as a lack of insulin or just too many late nights over new year.

All a bit weird. I may just take basal during the week and miss it at weekends to minimise exercise hypo's.
