Do you count carbs in fruit?

I have learned not to count the entire carbs in fruit, becuase I get lows if I do, (fiber?) I count the "net" carbs. Is this how you do it? What about veggies? I cant even count on those!

isn't it usually about 15 -20g carbs per peice of fruit? I bolus a unit usually... about the same as a slice of wholemeal bread

I was told not to count veg... unless there's an excessive amount

Yes. Different fruits and vegs have different carb counts. Greens tend not to have any or only very little. i.e. Apple 12 carbs per 100g: Orange 8.5 carbs per 100g: Pear 10 carbs per 100g. All that info can be got in books specialising in carb values.

I weigh my fruit on a diet scale that calculates both carbs and net carbs. You'd be surprised at how many "servings" one apple or orange can be! More often than not, I use the net carbs figure.

Yes

We live by the Calorie King (carb) guide (Shop CalorieKing - Buy online - Health products) and weigh and count everything. We give full boluses for fruit. It's somewhat tricky when carbs are listed for items "as purchased" (versus "flesh") and only a portion of a fruit is eaten. Still, even with a ratio of 1 unit to 40 carbs, no problems with lows (and our son eats lots of fruit - instead of candy).

There are fruits and then there are fruits and it seems that everyone is different.

I don't need to bolus for strawberries or blackberries, but I do need to bolus for melon or apples. It seems that some fruit affect me badly and others have no trouble. I can eat bananas, many can't.

I think fruit is kind of trial and error.

Seems like I always go a little low if I take insulin for apples, while I have to take entire bolus for bananas, go figure..Watermelon sends my numbers through the roof

Corn has a huge amount of carbs. Some say 30 grams for a large ear.
I can easily eat 3 large cobs, but if I bolus 90 grams i go low,
so I usually cut it down to 65
