| | | Social substances and diabetes. Hello fellow diabetics... Im at the age where most of my buddies and girlfriends are going to bars, clubs, houseparty's ect. Lots of achohol and other substances are going around. I tend to stay on top of things and I only drink on occasion. I found that keeping your bg under control is very stressful with more then moderate alcohol in your system. There are times when I can play my cards right with my insulin intake and bg monitoring. Unfortunatly its not allways like that. So I learned to drink in moderation. The best part of it is that my friends totally understand. I've also have used marijuana on more then one occasion knowing its illegal and gives you the munchies . I find whenever I smoke the stuff it hurts to pee. This happens even when my bg is in range.. Could this be a side affect to marijuana? Or Could this be a indication of something very serious that I should get checked out. Once the marijuana is out of my system I'm fine. I've decided to quit smoking it all together. Could this be a sign of cancer? I'm very worried. There is no blood in my urine but the pain really freaked me out... |

| | | I would advise not to smoke. I never heard of such a side effect but if the problem only occurs while smoking it seems like pretty simple case of cause and effect. The effect is concerning though. You should talk to a dr about it. |

| | | Hi Royce! I think everyone I know has at some time smoked pot, and I've NEVER heard of that side effect. Sounds like a bladder infection, but why it disappears when the pot's out of your system? I don't know - wierd! Talk to your doc.

| | | Or a urinary track infection. Try drinking a bunch of cranberry juice.

| | | Hi Royce, go see your doc.
have the tests done, get it over with.
If you worry, that creates stress & affects your BG's, it's a circle. |

| | | Thanks for the reply's. I really appericiate it. I think I've grown allergic to it and something inside my urinary track becomes inflamed. Therefore, I am definetly going to see a doctor and hear what his take is on this. The only thing I think he will say is to stay away from it. Better safe than sorry though. I might have to see a specialist. I'll find out sooner or later. |

| | | Social Substances and Diabetes When you smoke a cigarette, does anyone hand you a sheet to show you there are >50 other substances added that have nice side affects like
addiction and carcinogenic qualities?
When you rely on that friend of yours to sell you clean marijuana-do you think he's that trustable? Where did he get it from? They are in it for the money and there may be other substances easily added to make you addicted to their marijuana so you buy more. Some substances like formaldehyde are added to preserve cigarettes. I don't wish to eat formaldehyde any longer. I'm not letting anymore brain cells die because
I was stupid enough to smoke marijuana. I have enough dying from diabetes causes.<smile> You are what you eat or place in your mouth. Friends I knew who smoked marijuana a lot in high school, have lost their initative to do much like work and now have the 'couch potatoe' syndrome.
The smallest vessels in your body are in the eyes and kidneys and that may be why you had a side affect where you did as those vessels are usually the first ones to altar in a number of ways.
Bladder cancers are supposed to be high in people who smoke, especially women I hear. A diabetic female co-worker smokes and came down with bladder cancer and still says she will smoke thru a hole in her throat or till she dies. I believe her addiction is strong. They say cocaine addiction is as strong as cigarette addiction.
Sounds like you're making good choices now. Keep up on looking after yourself.

| | | I know a lot of people that sell marijuana and grow. Literally dozens apon dozens over the years. I grew up in the bay area. Where medical marijuana is legal and a prescription is attainable with the greatest of ease and usually 150$. Some of the indoor and out door gardens I have seen are beautiful.
the great majority of people that sell marijuana aren't going to add stuff to it that isn't natural to help grow the bud to it's potenial. Most won't dare use pesticides either. To add extra stuff to it costs money, and the people that grow are usually very, very organic people. If anything is added to it, it is usually laced, and a that point it costs more, is disclosed, and I have only seen marijuana laced once. Buying marijuana has got to be one of the purest things you can buy, like fruit at a farmers market. One of the drawbacks of legalizing marijuana, I believe would be companies adding preservatives and such to it.
I smoke on a rather reguraly basis. Usually once a week at our weekly poker games. I don't suffer couch potatoe syndrome, as a matter of fact a lot of Diabuddies was coded high. I am open about smoking marijuana and am ok about it. I can really, really get into things, especially writing music when high.
What I believe is going on royal is one of two things, or both. Smoking pot causes your blood pressure to rise. Now some have said their blood pressure lowers, but in general when you inhale carbon monoxide and THC your blood pressure goes up. I have tested this on myself and on 4 friends and BP went up by 10% diaystolic and 5% systolic and pulse incresed by 10% too. When your blood pressure rises it could be causing the vessels in your penis and urethra to tighten up. It could also be an allergic reaction, it also could be both.
If a drug is causing you ill side effects don't take it. It's not worth it. Like I said though it is concerning and hopfully there is tests a urologist can run to make sure this isn't a problem. My advice is not to smoke though. What fun is being high if it hurts you? |
