Drug Companies

I for one have never watched the show Dlife, but I read this article in the Los Angeles Times this weekend Sign Up , (If you can not view this I will repost) and this makes me mad as heck. I know that the drug companies do not want to see Diabetes cured. A cure is no good for stockholders and a lot of jobs as well. I can only wonder why we are paying for the marketing of the products we already need. The fact that “Sales of diabetes-treatment products total about $8 billion a year in the U.S., according to pharmaceutical research firm IMS Health Inc., and drug makers spend close to $1 billion promoting their goods to doctors and patients.” So I am feeling pretty ripped off by lilly, bd, squib, and lifescan for having to pay for this marketing. Its not like after we see a commercial that we will all of a sudden start taking insulin. I know that is how the world of pharmaceuticals works but, when a bottle of humalog can cost $96 w/o insurance it is a sad state tht some people will forgo insulin as they cant afford it. Sorry just my rant.
