| | | Any one hear about this new insulin delivery thing For those not yet on a pump, it sounds like they have the 'port' piece that you must change every 3 days. You deliver your insulin through the port...not sure if its with a standard needle or what. |

| | | I haven't heard of that yet, but that seems nice for those who don't like shots and especially for children I would guess.

| | | Yes, I've heard of those but can't think of the name. There are actually quite a few infusion sets for insulin pumpers that can be used for the same purpose. Basically a benefit of the pump without being connected 24/7.

| | | Yeah, I've heard. It's basically like having a reuseable injection site for 3 days, and hopefully reducing the amount of tissue trauma from repeatedly stabbing yourself the way it can be when using MDI. I have some days where I probably inject myself about 10 times if I'm needing to make a number of corrections. |

| | | I've got a dr appt next week. I'm going to have to see about asking him if he can write an RX, if it's available where I am and my insurance will cover it. |

| | | I used those about 20 years ago when I was first diagnosed (they weren't prescription then), and didn't like them. I have to assume the modern ones are better designed, but the old ones would irritate my skin at the injection site, and after a couple of days (they lasted 4 days) it would hurt..... I finally decided that MDI was a lot easier. Now they're touting insulin ports like they've just been invented! |

Well, you get the benifit of the infusion site in that you only need to inject once every 3 days or so.
The pump still gives you that tight basal control that mdi cannot give. I'd still rather wear a pump. But this sure does beat the 4-5 mdi injections I was on each day before the pump!

| | | I am picking up a sample this week. I'll let you know how it goes. They may have limited distribution right now since they just started selling on Feb 1. We live in Austin, where Patton Medical is located so we are in the distribution area. A box of 10 will run about $120 without insurance coverage.

| | | I have used silhouettes this way. A short (5/16" ?) syringe seems to fit inside the hub without reaching the cannula and running the risk of piercing it.
