attempt at basal test

I have been having a few lows and highs in the past week or so that aren't normal for me, so I thought I would try and test my basal to see if I'm getting the right amount of lantus. I'm not completley sure if i understood how I was suppossed to do this.
here are my results

tues
5pm eat dinner and bolus
10pm 5.6 (101) take 16 units lantus
weds
7am 5.1 (92)
8am 4.3 (77)
9am 5.1 (92)
10am 5.4 (97)
10:30am 4.7 (85)
11:30am 5.4 (97)
12:30pm 4.4 (79)
eat lunch

I didn't eat anything from dinner tuesday night until lunch on wednesday.

Did I do this right? anything else I should have done?

what do you think of the results?

Looks about right to me, those seem to be fine numbers so maybe the problem is with your morning I:C ratio, or perhaps it was just stress or sickness that raised your BG. Sometimes overcorrecting for highs can cause lows and vice versa, so it would be worth it to try to figure out which comes first and then adjust accordingly. It might also help to test during the time of day when you are having the most trouble.

If those were my results, I wouldn't change my basal dose at all. Unexpected lows and highs could stem from a variety of things. For example, if you bolus for a meal that contains a fair amount of fat and/or protein, you may run low and then high because your digestion activity is slower than your insulin. I find matching insulin to digestion action to be the hardest part of insulin management. It's so unfair!

I also think the numbers look pretty good. See how they work for a few weeks, you can always tweak them here and there as appropriate.

Awesome numbers! If anything, I'd drop your lantus a unit. You should repeat this test two more times. Once is not a pattern.

Good luck with the attempt stu, the hardest thing I found was getting really hungry, but i survived not eating breakfast for one day!

I think that my basal is pretty much spot on, although it doesn't give me much of a margin for unexpected exercise.

I have changed my ratio for breakfast and lunch as I think that is the cause of the lows.
