Been wondering, since i got diagnosed i of course have had ups and down. However, even when i am at a really good level(5.5 or so) for a long time, i feel like i have more headakes, episode of fatigue and a just feel worse, etc, then before.

Is that just the way it goes even when you have close to normal glucose levels(looking at all you experienced people )?

Well, since I got my bg under control, I've been in the best health of my life. I had chronic fatigue (not CFIDS) and it actually went away. But I may just be an anomaly.

Are you having lots of hypos? If you are this could be causing your feelings of fatigue, and especially headaches.

also worth considering that your symptoms are not diabetes related at all - it does happen. Be worth consulting your doctor.

I don't remember what it's like not to have diabetes.

Might consider having your TSH (an indicator of thyroid level) checked if you're feeling tired a lot... just an idea.

I feel like I have less concentration than I did before diabetes. It's hard to go long without thinking, "I wonder what my glucose level is..."

thanks for the replys. yeah i just saw my endo specialist. he told me that indeed my thyroid is not really keeping up. Great. So i am on meds for that too. Explains some the tiredness.

Great! You'll start to feel better very quickly with the thyroid augmentation.

I don't really remember much before diabetes, but of course there will always be ups and downs. I do not, however, think that I am sick more than my peers, nor do I have less energy. In fact, most of my peers are 25 years younger than me, and I miss less work than they do and can work them into the ground without breaking a sweat. diabetes never slowed me down a bit.

Similar experience here! In England, I worked in a residential home for the elderly and whatever outbreak we had... I was never sick.

Before being diagnosed I was sick all the time. I was juggling raising 3 kids and working full time, and I was sick all the time and most week-ends I'd spend sick as a dog. Having the flu back then meant 3-4 solid weeks of coughing. What a life!

I've had a difficult hysterectomy 10 months ago and recovered well and quickly. I'm still amazed I did! Even my doctor was amazed!!!

I am aware though I must be careful with my health. I know diabetes can potentially make things worse for me. So I'm not negligent. I am coming down with something at the moment --I've got razor blades in my throat ack!-- but haven't been sick in a long while and will make sure sugars remain low and constant and will take good care of myself.

I figure with a good follow-up any problems will be taken care right at the beginning too. Because of diabetes I do not let things fester before I seek medical advice... like so many non diabetic people I know!

I thought I was healthy before, but I missed my yearly month's long attack of bronchitis this year, guess once diabetes in control, things did get better. There was a month or so tho that was rough, and doctor explained it was the body adjusting to becoming in control and adjusting to the lower blood sugars and would go away

So far, I've manages to avoid MY nearly annual brush with bronchitis/pneumonia as well. They always seemed to last at least one month for me as well (had it for almost 3 months last year - pre-Dx)

Got a bit of a cold right now, but considering the wife and kids have been passing it around for months now, I'm pretty pleased I've avoided it this long.

I think my mental health has taken a hit, unfortunately, by my diagnosis, but physically I feel fine when my blood sugar is in control...
