| | | drandruff/skin problem due to diabetes? I wanted to ask if anyone else had skin problems arise after being dianosed?
Since I have been diagnosed (and a few months prior) I have had a real drandruff problem. It is a real embarrassment. I notice it comes on when my blood sugar is high.
Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do for it. I sat up a poll for this at my site (see signature). |

| | | I had a short time of my hair falling out much more than usual. But was told that it would go away, as it was caused by the stress your body has been under the past couple of months of pre-diagnosis.
It soon stopped falling out... maybe this is a similar thing.

| | | I don't have any dry scalp problems, but since being dx'd, my legs are always dry and itchy.

| | | Almost as soon as I was diagnosed, I ended up with psoriasis, which went away and didn't come back once my BG was under control. Dry skin, on the other hand, is still an issue to some extent.

| | | I guess I have psoriasis is one of my ears. And I do have some minor skin issues, usually under my mustache or eyebrows, or the sides of my nose. It consists mostly of dry flaky skin. The sides of my nose, where it meets my face, can get a little tender at times.

| | | Thanks for the feedback. As someone comment on my poll, it sound like I have seborrheic dermatitis. I looked it up and my sympotms are similar.
Cyborg, you might have that too.
What is wierd is it acts up when my bg is high, I can almost tell how high my bg if the itches starts up. Noramally around 280+. It does not always happen if my bg is high, but still seems odd.
BTW, on David Letterman (sp?) last night, his fun facts, he mentioned that any given moment 60% of americans are itching. That was funny. |

Head & Shoulders or any shampoo with Zinc Pyrithione will help with it. You can also use Lanacort cream which has Zinc Pyrithione in it.
I had this prior to my diagnosis, but never have found info on whether it's an AI disorder or not. It is certainly an inflammation when it gets aggravated. |

I am going to request to see a dermatologist soon to see if I can get to the bottom of this.
Thanks for the feedback everybody. |

| | | I use to have cystic acne when I was a teenager. At that time, I had the disease for 11 yrs. My endo at that time said diabetes had something to do with it. |

how is the acne now?
Do you have any design samples I could see? I would like to see some of your work. |

| | | Thanks everyone for giving me some insight on the sebhorreic dermatitis. If that's what it it's not real bad. A couple years ago I was given some Elocon, which is a topical steroid and does help with the ear. I do have a little dry, scaly skin on the folds of my nose, so I just tried some there also.

The acne is good but of course I'm not a teenager anymore. I was on Accutane for awhile and that cleared up the acne to a point. Then after three treatments, I went on other meds for breakouts here and there. I still get a pimple once in awhile but not cysts.
I'm not sure if you know what kind of design, so I'll tell you, web design. I'm lazy about creating a portfolio. Actually, I'm really busy creating other web sites but one day I'll have time to create my own. Are you a designer? |

| | | I have suffered from this all my life, in the ears on my head and face. Guess what all the topical and shampoo in the world never really helped but once control came the stuff kind of went away.
