| | Hi Jennie, Welcome! Sounds like you've been dealing with diabetes a lot longer than me.... I hate it too sometimes....and I don't even have to take shots. Are you taking shots or do you have a pump?
I know there are lots of people here dealing with the same things you're going through that can give you all sorts of encouragement. I'm glad you found us!
All the best,
Linda

| | | Hi Jennie, Glad you found the forums! I have had type one diabetes for 20 years. I am using an insulin pump and it has been really helpful. Hope you visit often.

I have a 15 year old daughter, and I think she'd be having the same feelings as you if she were diabetic. I know that you're not alone!
We are all here to help you, if you have any questions or want to know more.

| | | I have had type 1 since I was 11. I am now 44. Nobody likes it but you have to deal with it. Learn to accept it and live a healthy lifestyle. There is almost nothing you cannot do because you have diabetes. I was on shots, there was no such thing as MDI 30+ years ago but went to MDI and now have been pumping for 8 months. The pump does free you up some but you still have to watch what you eat and calculate it. The more you learn and know about diabetes the better off you will be. Keep a positive attitude about it. You will have good and bad days. Tomorrow is always a new start. Keep your head up work hard at it and you will live a long healthy life. I feel and probably am healthier than most people I meet!

| | Hello Jennie, Nice to meet you
I see you have good tastes (horses)
I have a collection of horses
1dog
29 sheep and
2 cats who live in the farm buildings.
You asked how we cope with diabetes,
I came to the conclusion a long time ago, that it won't go away so make the best of it.
If you have a bad day start a fresh day tomorrow there is no point on dwelling on things
Oh and enjoy life diabetes shouldn't stop you doing anything you want to do.
Ps whats that cute pony called in your profile?

| | | Yup I hear ya!
Ive had diabetes since ag7.. Am now 23..
And yea! it sucks. But it is life and unfortunately my life includes this stupid condition... I get angry all the time and mourn the loss of a normal life. But really, at the end of the day, there is nothing i can do but try to control the diabetes and lead as healthy a life as I can...... |
