Fat build ups on infusion sites?

Question: Do you get fat buildups where the pump infusion set goes? i know you can get them if you inject to often at the same spot with mdi. Same with the pump?

The pump is known for these problems. Go with the inhaler great product, I'm loving it.

After 16 months of pumping, I no fat build up where I use infusion sets.

I've also heard the other side of the coin with regards to the inhaler...

Been pumping 3 1/2 years. No fat buildup, no noticable scars. It might be a stretch to say the pump is "known for these problems". I think some people are prone to get fat or lumps from injections or from pump infusion sets, although I've never met anyone who did.

Well..... I think I do get fat build up in certain areas of my body. I have always been long waisted with little to no fat on my mid section. Since I started putting infusion sets on my belly......I have one. Other areas, I never know the difference. Butt (kinda always had padding) hips and thights, I don't notice a difference.

If you normally inject Insulin (whether it be by
syringe or by using a pump)into the same area,
you will indeed get the scar tissue and fat build
up. That has nothing to do with being prone to it.
Anyone can get that.

I'm not sure how long it takes with a pump but
with a syringe I got the build up after about 38
yrs. on my tummy and arms. That's where I
injected the most. I didn't have any lumps or
hard spots though. I'm not sure how that
happens. I just got fluffy fat. The fat on my
tummy and arms is all gone now.

Just make sure to rotate and you shouldn't get
that problem.

I hope that you do well on the pump Thomas.

I think proper site rotation is probably the key thing. My son did not like to go out of his comfort zone, sitewise, and had small fat deposits in the 2 places on his belly that he preferred. This was after just over a year of pumping. He finally listened to the doc about rotating over a wider area, and now we can see the fatty parts receding. I am still working on getting him to choose more varied areas, but he's better than he was.
The more areas you can find to put a site, the better.

I change my site twice a week and I've been pumping for almost two years - no fat build up at all.

I change every 3 days and I do have excess fat in my stomach. I know part is due to what I eat, but I know that's not the full reason because my arms and legs have almost no fat. Now I just wish my parents would believe it's from pumping.
