| | | Endo says no flip flops/toe rings My endo is anal about foot care, completely understandable
.....but geez! I live in AZ people, you know 120 degree summers!! I am 29 and have had "D" just over a year, with a 6.5 A1C. So, I was very irritated when she tries to tell me to stop wearing anything between my toes (toe ring, flip flops) We give up so much for this disease and she wants me to give up my flip flops! | | | Meh. I wear them all the time, even to work. As long as your BG is well-controlled, and you check your feet regularly, I don't see what the big deal is.
Sometimes I think doctors forget what it's like to be human, especially those who aren't D themselves.

| | Heck, I wore flip flops to my last appointment with the endo. He didn't bat an eye! (and I figure it was at least 0.5 lb lighter on the scale!

| | | I wear flip flops also. If you have feeling in your feet and can feel if they are rubbing then "whatever". I am sure she worries about you banging your toes or something, but you could do that in your own home on your couch.
I have wide feet and bunions. If I didn't wear flip flops, I would have the sorest feet with rub sores all over it. No way will I wear shoes in the summer. |

| | | I wear flip-flops all the freaking time and couldn't live without them - though my mother often looks at me warily when I have them on around her. She's my mom, it's her job.
Anyway, I will say that make sure you DON'T walk long distances in them. I've made that mistake when traveling and it's bad! Lots of blisters, which for me take at least a month to heal completely, and usually leave scars. So just make sure that if you are wearing flip-flops they are pretty good ones that aren't leaving marks on your feet. But it's not that hard... I found these awesome Reebok flip-flops a few years ago and I had them for three years before they broke!

| | | I found the most comfortable pair of flip flops called crocs. Yes, they are the same brand as the ugly garden or nursing shoe, but there flip flops are awsome. Very cusiony (is that a word?) and soft between the toes. |

| | | I'll go one further and say if I'm not wearing sandals then I'm barefoot. I have never had a problem with wearing sandals and have never had a problem being barefoot. I put a pretty big gash in the back of my heel last Summer but it quickly healed. I also do the whole toe ring thing. I say do as you please unless you do have problems with your feet. Next thing they'll be telling us is we can no longer wear shorts.

| | I'm with the others here...have gone both barefoot & worn flip-flops for years. The first doctor (who diagnosed me in '82) never said I couldn't wear them. Quote:

That said, I LOVE their array of colors! No other company has been so bold/cool!

| | | Isn't it funny how crocs were frowned upon and were ugly as can be but now they are the coolest things in style. I have 2 pair, one being black and the other neon green and I love them. I think I'm about to order my 3rd pair and believe it or not they are BLING crocs. Oh Yeah!!! I'm going to be cool this Summer with the bling on my feet. LMAO!!

You can also bling out the ones you own now with little gems to clip into the holes. Don't ya just love comfort & fashion all in one?

Besides, if you don't like the Crocs (cause of the "fad" status), you can get less expensive Air-Walks at Payless.
So, do you wear "man-sandals" (is that a word?), flip-flops or go barefoot?
