| | | Tired more often Hey. Was diagnosed type 1 in december 06. Got the pump a few months ago. It is great.
now, i really hope i am not just being a hypocondriac here, but I do get tired faster then i did before. Say i do a normal day at work, or run errands for a day. I feel exhausted more often then i would before, even if my bloodsugar is ok all the time. I just have lower energy levels. Is it just me, or something else or have anyone else felt this. Is it diabetes related?

| | Any idea what your most recent A1c was? When mine are higher, I am generally more tired...Early on with this disease, someone explained being "high" as being similar to being drunk without the coordination issues...the effect on your tissues is as bad. If this is remotely true, being high, or even "all over the place", takes a toll on recovery.
Also, it is August. It seems for me anyway, I get beat-down tired in August, but that could be a left over depressive feeling from school-age days of having to go back to school!

| | | Not me. I have had it for 33 years now. At age 44 I have more energy now then I did 10 to 15 years ago. I think it is more excercise and better control. I do sleep less but maybe that is just summer time.

| | | Hi Thomas, Just out of interest what is a typical day's diet plan for yourself? I noticed that your last HbA1c was 4.7. Are you on an almost 100% protein diet? Most type 1's find that it is better for them to reduce their carbohydrate intake, but you still need carbs to give you energy. if you reduce carbs to the minimum you are going to get tired much quicker if you have an energetic life style.

| | | My latest a1c was 5.0, a month ago. Hm, well, i guess i'll look over the eating habits again, but no i don't eat just protein, i do however cut down on the carbs a lot, esp in the evening.
I wonder if it has to do with my thyroid. Im on meds for that. Oh i dont know.
Thanks!!!
