Uh oh...1st illness with "D"

After 17months of living with Diabetes, I am getting my first illness, a cold or the flu... thanks to my daughter that went back to school and gathered some germs. I can feel it already in my head, throat and see it in my numbers! YIKES

Sorry to hear your daughter shared her germs with you. Hope it's not too bad. Drink lots of water and get some rest. Hope you feel better soon.

Yeah - I had tooth/sinus problem last week and did not wake up friday morning. Slept thursday nite thru Saturday morning. Even now, I am taking more humalog and lantus to cover for the continuing healing.

Be careful - sickness is baaaad mojo for us.

Sorry you're not feeling well and hope you get well soon. I do well with the Dayquil & Nyquil liqui-gels. They don't raise my blood sugar like the liquid form. Don't forget to drink plenty of fluids!

Hope you're feeling better soon! I've had a summer cold, compliments of my co-workers....finally, after about 10 days, it's ran its course. My blood sugars were definitely affected by it, esp since i've popped cough drops, cough syrup and antibiotics. Things have calmed somewhat now. Do drink plenty of liquids, have chicken noodle soup and get plenty of rest.

I generally don't find the colds effect my diabetes much. It's the fevers and the pukey illnesses that kick my arse.

Load up on the Vitamin D-3. They say it has a profound affect. But at some of the doses I heard mentioned just sounds like a lot of D-3.

Sorry to hear of your illness take plenty of fluids, check your bg more regularly than usual, and remember that some colds and flu can require you to increase your insulin dosage.
Get well soon
