| | | C-peptide test Ok, so the doctor had me take this a couple of weeks ago, my results came back at .05 , he wanted to make sure that after 17 years on insulin that I was really a type 1, especaily since my previous dr had me on metformin in addition to the insulin.
So now I can stop the metformin, one less thing to take , yeah |

| | | Are you satisfied that Metformin wasn't helping you? Being T1 doesn't mean that Metformin won't work for you. It is often used to treat T1 patients who are also insulin resistant.

| | Exactly what BlueSky said!!!! T1's are taking Metformin more and more often these days for that exact reason!! Just cuz you're T1, doesn't mean you don't have insulin resistance!

| | | I have been on it for about 5 years, so I am not sure about it.
I have not taken it for a week, since I started pumping last week, trying to get the pump straightened out first. I will talk with my doctor and see how I should proceed with it, I still have a 90 day supply that I picked before I started pumping , so there is plenty of it. |

| | | I'm a pumper and still taking Metformin! My endo claims it helps keep your weight steady. I've stayed between 117-120 lbs. for the last 2 years, so I'm staying on it! LOL

Karen | your endo "claims"?... did you try NOT taking it?.... as my old doctor friend from the ER said..."medicine is not an exact science"... I wouldn't be caught dead taking metformin if I didn't need it... | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
