| | | At Work, At Last. Last night was my first shift back at work for nearly six months. Everything went well, BG's were within acceptable levels and I wasn't too tired at the end of the night.
Managed to walk there and back at total of 5.4 miles without any problems. But my pace and fitness is way down and the walk is taking me 45 minutes rather than 26 minutes. The fitness will be back up to standard in a few weeks.
Got my shifts sorted out with the management so I am working three 9 hour night shifts. Think I should be ok with this and I won't get fatigued like before.
My BG fasting level this afternoon was 5.9mmol/L which is about where I like it. And been pretty stable all day. my first night was a success after tuesdays false start when I was intially supposed to be returning. But had a bad hypo tuesday morning.
Only time will tell what the future will hold. |

| | | Rich, glad you're back to work. My job stresses me out, but i'd miss it in many ways, if I wasn't there for awhile. Glad you're feeling more your usual self now....pretty soon, it will be as if you were never out!

| | | This week I have managed to work two 9 hour night shifts without any problems. Very tiring after a long time off and having to actually think about what I'm doing rather than just getting on with it. Should be back up to speed soon.
My BG's have been soooo much more stable than before. Hardly had to make any insulin adjustments and haven't dropped low enough to can anymore hassle than eating a few glucose tabs.
The domperidone tablets I am taking appear to be doing quite a good job. And my blood glucose is far more stable.
Haven't walked as many miles as I used to but this will take a little time to regain my fitness. But managing 2.6 miles a day. I walk to work and get a lift or company paid taxi home. Did try walking there and back last week. Not a good idea it was far to much for me after such a long time of inactivity.
Hopefully I can work three nights next week all being well. And get a few more miles under my walking boots.
I am still waiting on a SoloStar pen for my Apidra/Lantus. The pharmacy still hasn't got the product in from it suppliers yet. Think I might get an Opticlick cartridge pen while I am waiting. Will be seeing the doc next week. 1 unit increments here I come.
All in all a good week with little complaint apart from a sore back and aching fingers. |
