| | | Hi. Welcome to DF!
I think the answer depends on a lot of things. For starters how much you eat, what you eat, how much you drink, what you mix with, meds, etc. etc.
I bet that didn't help much.

| | | Eating some sort of long acting carbohydrate could perhaps keep you from going low. The reason drinking makes your BG drop is that alcohol supresses the liver from its normal glucose releases, therefore, your basal requirement is not as high. I suggest you search the forum because there are quite a number of threads on this topic.

| | | Welcome to the forum guys.
Alcohol can make you fall. Food can make you rise. Your meds, insulin injections, or lack thereof must match the need. Test and find out is always a great idea. |

| | | Depends on alot of things but mostly what you drink. Not all alcohol will make you automatically go low. Beer raises my BS. Welcome to DF also!

| | | I try to make sure i atleast am A/ sober enough no to pass out when i get home, B/sober enough to remember to test before i go to bed. I'd rather not have a low while passed out sleeping like a (drunk) baby.

| | Last night i had 2 pints, at 6pm i was 6.4 premeal and then i went out. At 1am when i returned home i was 12.9 and then at 2:22am i was 12.3. At 5:34am which i randomly woke up (not sure why) i was 7.7. I woke up to 6.2 at 12:45pm (no breakfast).
The moral of the story is that Alcohol makes things unpredictable, i almost corrected at 1am and 2:22am but thought better of it. I find that I dont need to eat while drinking beer as the carbs make me high. The best bet is to always drink in small quantities and always have breakfast. And yes i should practice what i preech, but sadly im not perfect. Find out what works for you. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
