Microalbuminuria?

Just wondering, anyone get this early on with their D? Is it even possible?
I've not even been diagnosed 2 years and this is the second time the microalb/cr test has shown microalbuminuria.
First one was just a spot check and I was high at the time so maybe shouldn't count (?). This one was an overnight collection, I wasn't high, had done no exercise in the last 2 days... should also say have also noticed increasing foamy/frothy urine for the last 3-4 weeks..
Suppose I’ll find out more next week, will probably turn out to be worry for nothing...

I know I'm tested for this but haven't seen any problems. How is your A1C? Lowering that may help with this number. Did your doctor give you any instructions? Keep us posted.

Blue Eyes,

I'm fine now, but in the past I was positive. Apparently, it can get better with better control, and make sure you are well hydrated. Over 10 years ago, a doctor had me thinking I would be on dialysis in a couple years -- really. I'm not even close.

Like Alice said, please keep up posted.

Ask to be put on Altace or something similar, like lisinopril. These are blood pressure medications that have been proven to reduce the liklihood of kidney damage. Since being on these, I have had 0 microalbumin, and my associated levels of creatinine, etc. have been normal.

Thanks everyone.
My A1C isn’t too bad.
Just found out the exact results - urine albumin was 28 [0-30] which is up from the last test I had, albumin excretion was 32.2 [0.20] report says this is microalbuminuria, total urine protein was 0.17g/L (period of collection was 9.5 hours)...
Both my Grandma’s brother had type 1 diabetes and developed kidney probs fairly early on. I don’t drink much water, usually diet cordial…
I'll bring in the first results and guess I'll see what the endo has to say. Usually my bp is on the low side so I don't know if she'll want to try meds or wait and see if things get worse.
