Does anyone here have problems wearing contact lens because of double vision?

About 5 months ago I started seeing double vision, but only with contact lens, not with glasses. My eye doctor said it was because when I go inside, my pupil grows and the contact moves around a lot and I see double. Does anyone else have this? I can no longer wear contacts, which I love to wear. Now I have to settle with looking like a nerd and I have no real explanation for it

I haven't worn contacts since being DX, but I normally only wear them during the summer so that I can wear sunglasses without having to take off my "oridinary" glasses.

When was the last time you saw an optician. Mine does a check every time (each year) when I want to get my contact prescription filled.

When I am wearing the contacts I would be moving in/out doors, hence the reason for the contacts, I got tired having to carry both sunglasses and ordinary ones (hate tinted/react-a-light glasses) and never had a problem. Could it be that your eyes are dry and you need some drops? I'd talk to your optician.

optician came to our diabetic class and said that double vision can occur when the muscles around the eye do not function properly due to D complication. Might have him to check this too. He said when this happens it usually get better when BG levels are kept closer to normal. keep us informed

cataracts can also cause double vision. especially when looking at lights.

thanks for the replies. The thing is, I only see double with contacts, not glasses. Its like the contacts dont fit perfectly. I am seeing a retinal specialist tommorow and i hope to have all my questions answered. I was thinking I might have something really wrong like cataracts or glaucoma. I have had numbers that are a bit high, even though my a1c is 6.2. I would say my average bg is 150, do you think that could be a big factor? I tried like 10 pairs of contacts and they all had the same problem. I dont think dryness is a problem, just double vision. Also I noticed that when I am outside a lot my eyes feel kind of itchy and warm. Does anyone else feel this?

The reason I mentioned dryness was I was wondering if the lenses weren't sitting right or moving correctly to stay centered. I get the itchy feeling if my eyes get dry or I wear the lenses for too long. Hopefully your specialist will be able sort things out for you.

everything was sorted out sorta. in short i have blepharitis and i also have tons of eye floaters. i will have a vitrectomy and cataract surgery soon.

Glad that it got sorted out.

I have wore contact longer than I have been diabetic. My prescription is so strong that even with the new thinner lens for eyeglasses, mine are just too heavy to wear. I change my contacts frequently and wear my glasses at home and sometimes on the weekends to give my eyes a rest from the contacts. I got new glasses last year and while I can see with them, I see better with my contacts so hopefully I can continue to wear contacts for a long time with out any problems.
