| | | Time to get back on the wagon It seems that I've fallen off the good ol' "control" wagon. I've simply been pitiful since Christmas. I think my basals are all wrong, my bolus ratios etc.....been drinking, eating badly, etc....it's just so darn had to balance Family, Work, Health, and other responsibilities all together. It's amazing how fast everything can deteriorate. I really need to get my control, and other aspects of life, back on track.

| | Do I ever feel for you! I have gained weight and my numbers are not good at all. I haven't let up trying, but seems like nothing works anymore. We are dealing with a lot of stress right now, and I have not been exercizing as I should. I am hoping Spring and warmer weather will help. Maybe it will help you get back on track, too.

| | | For me, my diabetes control is an almost constant "getting on the band wagon"... one leg in, one dragging in the dirt. Gotta keep lifting my belt too! But we have to be kind to ourselves, it can be a devil of a time yes? Many would not understand... but I think many here do, you are not at all alone.

| | | I always look at the control thing as "focus". If you loose focus even for a short period of time everything can go crazy very quickly. For Type 1s especially I figure we are on total "manual control" of all aspects of food, exercise, and administration of medication rather than on "automatic" like non-diabetic individuals. If you loose focus on one or more of these you get in trouble. |

| | Ah ok, I will leave you as the do doo expert.
Very true about focus... and I don't know about you guys, but most fluctuations in BG make me go vague and unfocused ... making it such a merry song and dance.

| | | Injecto, my life is a constant cycle of getting off the wagon, getting on the wagon, getting off the wagon, getting on the wagon.....etc. You're right - diabetes is really one more thing to balance in our lives with work, family, etc. I have yet to meet anyone who has everything in balance all the time.

| | | Is depression getting a grip on you? When depression isn't taking over, the diabetes falls into control a lot better. However, I think we ALL go through more ups and downs and struggle harder with balance than most other people.

| | | Injecto,
Sorry you are having a rough time, that ****ed wagon sometimes moves just as you are about to step on it. I have struggled with my weight for more years than I care to remember. The imporant thing is you recognise that you need better control, which is always the first and sometimes hardest step. Do this for you, if you can get this important thing started, then you will have the motivation and energy to tackle the next thing on your list.
If things are getting you down, have a good old vent, it helps alot!

| | | Any room for me in that wagon, John? LOL
I've been doing much better since I saw the endo on Monday and he made some adjustments to my basal rates. I'm determined to get my A1c down from 7.3 to 6.5 or less before my next appointment in June.

| | | I don't mind falling off the back of the wagon, as I have done many times. It's when I fall off the front and get run over by the wagon that it really hurts!

| | It is an unfortunate fact that the wagon known as diabetes is carrying a whole load of guano and it stinks. You have an unfortunate choice between staying on the wagon and putting up with the awful stench or falling off the wagon and having the guano fall in your face whilst you desperately climb back on.
I'm currently feeling like the darn thing ran over my foot |

| | | Your not alone. I've been struggling to get back on for about a month or so now, and it's not easy when every other aspect of my life is going insane at the moment. I just keep plugging away at it, and try not to get discouraged.
