blah OK

so I joined the gym last monday and have been ( dont yell to loudly) 4 TIMES so far.

I think I pushed myself to hard yesterday though I worked out for 13.7 miles! and my feet went numb?? today it is still going in and out numb? anyone know why this might be? Maybe I need to get some better shoes( although mine are all top name brand shoes)

I am a bit ( ok a lot) lol sore today. I am still thinking about the diet pills but will try to work out a few days a week also. Not sure if i am hurting so bad today because of my lupus or because I worked out but I did feel good last night after I worked out.

Nothing wrong with going slow. I've been told to push hard enough to be uncomfortable. Remember it's a lifestyle change, not a sprint.

xMenace has it right once again. It is so easy in the begining because you mentally feel motivated and your body feels good. Exercise lightly through the soreness. Take one day off and exercise one day. Let your body rest every other day.

That's great that you're working out! As for the foot numbness, is it just the toes or the entire foot/feet? Sometimes I have that when I use the elliptical machine, and I think it might be connected to tying the laces too tightly on my shoes or wearing socks that are too thick.

I can understand being really motivated when first beginning to work out, but I've been a member of our gym for about 6 years and have seen lots of newbies come and go after a couple of months because either they're burned out from pushing too much too soon or because they don't have a workout partner to keep them going. I myself have injured tendons from pushing myself too much when doing a new workout. Just be careful, stretch out beforehand really well, and enjoy it when the endorphins kick in.

I work out with my Dh so I thankfully do have someone to work out with. He is a cop so he does push me a bit at times he forgets i have lupus and its just not the same as him working out. My whole foot goes numb today its off and on numb. I do have running shoes and i worked out on the bike and the elliptical machine. I am debating if I should go today ( Dh wont beable to do go today with me.) I think I should even if its just 20 minutes. I LOVE the sauna so maybe just 20 on bike and sauna for 20. not sure

plenty of protein (i have NO idea how this affects diabetes) but i used to take protein shakes when i was working out before dxd.

If taken before bed it really helps your muscles repair and recooperate over night.

And remember it's really important to warm down after a work out or it will only ache more the next day... it'll will ache anyway, but more so if you don't warm down.

If you switch exercise types, you should be able to go everyday. Aerobic one day, weights the next, for instance. But do take it easy - you are in it for the long haul and don't want to burn out.
