| | | I'm sure stress causes high blood sugars, hypers. I am quite a stressy person and am told all the time by the docs that my high hba1c's can be because of stress.
Hope this helps. |

| | | It depends on what kind of stress for me.
If it's a sudden kind of stress that passes quickly (such as almost getting hit by a car or some confrontation), I'll watch for a hypo afterwards. If it's a longer lasting type of stress of a few days or more (for example, pressure at work or infection) my BG levels will tend to rise.

Fight or flight = big rush of adrenaline and can cause hypo.
My stress levels during the week are a whole bunch more than at the weekend; weekends tend to be hypo city for me even if I reduce the insulin a fair bit...

| | For me:
Stress usually means hyper. Depending how stressed or angry I am, a 50-100 mg/dL spike is not uncommon; my record is 150 mg/dL.
The exception is when I see a certain girl I rather like. Then I must be cautious of hypos.

| | Stress always means hyper for me. I've never had the opposite response.
About ten years ago, I made the same decision as Heather. I just don't sweat the small stuff anymore. It's a conscious decision because I found life throws enough stresses at you without adding your own. And (this was a tough one for me) I probably can't control it anyway.
Interesting about the hypo response. I wonder what the chemistry is behind that one? |

| | Emotional stress sends me SKY high, so hyper for me. When we had bad problems w/ a pregnant mare way early Friday morning (1:30 am started), my level was 266 when it had been 104 the evening before with no food since

| | | I've had it go both ways...I think, at least for me, it depends on the type of stress we're talking about.
