So 40 years ago today, I was diagnosed with diabetes. Thus about this time, on this day in 1968, I was in the children's ward of the local hospital almost clueless as to what was going on. Visiting hour was from 2 till 3 every afternoon and parents didn't stay with their children beyond that hour. I was 11 years old and a bit lost to say the least. My memory of that time is extremely clear.
HOWEVER, I survived and I plan to keep on doing just that!
I do not expect replies - I just needed to air it.

That's fantastic Anne! You obviously take good care of yourself. Keep up the great work and you will go on to celebrate 63 years with good health like I will do in Sept. Good luck!

Wow guys, thank you so much for your wonderful comments - you make a girl feel quite good about herself! Linda, Sharon, Frank, Nancy, John, Richard. Cin and Sue - you are the people who make this wonderful place to air one's comments and concerns work because you are so POSITIVE in your responses. Richard, I have your excellent example to aim for - it is good to have a goal!
