I would drink water or a herbal tea as caffeine tends to raise my bg. I have really got into herbal teas since becoming a diabetic and have found a huge selection in different qualities.

Ahhh - now there's a coffee drinker that I can understand.

I do coffee at home in Yama vacuum maker - like the french press - and grind with hand burr grinder. The local Chicago roaster I order online is Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea. Their signature blend is Black Cat - nice and potent and delicious.

I do Starbucks maybe a dozen times a year and order double short, homo, no foam latte. I couldn't tell you what the carbs are - I guess I haven't learned the value of carb counting, and, as I am usually at Starbucks after breakfast on the way to work and my next hit of insulin is lunch - what can I do? I drink the latte, and... maybe go high for a while.

Oh, well. I guess my manner to manage eating has been learned over the years - that if you eat too much, you MUST eat less next time you eat. The modern way seems to be - do a hit of insulin to match your aggressive eating. I do that sometimes - but not often. I come from the days of one shot lente per day. So, I managed around the testape color - yellow, I could eat, green, I could watch and maybe nibble. I know, I know - you guys think one shot lente was no management and quite impossible - what can I say - it was animal derived lente for 30 years. Now it is designer humalog and lantus for the past 4 years.

heh. Absolutely nothing in Coffee-ville can equal the visual presentation and entertainment provided by observing java being brewed in a vacuum maker! (It's also my second-favorite methodology for home coffee prep!)

I think that during this summer though, I'm going to re-visit the Toddy and start making my own ice brew coffees from concentrate?!

I'm not a coffee drinker and they don't sell soft drinks so there's no diet coke. That leaves me with water.

I get an Iced Americano (sp?) hold the heavy whip, sugar free syrup (hazel nut or carmel are my favorite) and a bit of half n half and 1 splenda. Doesn't really have an impact on my sugar and its pretty tasty.

"The View" had a segment on Starbucks this week. Starbucks was getting reamed for adding carbs to the iced coffees when people didn't realize...they just published, or are starting to post their nutritional info in the stores.

You have to ask for a sugar-free iced coffee. Most people thought it was already "just coffee"...but they add a syrup. I think the coffee was 80 calories, but don't know how many carbs...normally that would be about 10 carbs or so.

Only ever been to Starbucks once and the coffee was awful!!
I prefer a nice Italian style coffee house in Derby and just have an Americano with semi skimmed and no sugar ever mmmmmmmmmmmmmm plus the waitresses are really cute, much better looking than the munters at Starbucks

Interesting... their nutritional information for each specific store has been online for at least 5 years, that I know of. I know that the stores I go to have a binder full of the nutritional information, one binder for beverages and one for pastries. Maybe in Washington they have that easily available?
