| | | Novo Rapid complaint I was traveling abroad, and my Novo Rapid pen just stopped working. I was thanking God for having my second Novo Rapid pen and guess what happened, it stopped
I was on different "continent", so could not buy easily insulin. My bg went high, I was scared to death.... I was raising bolus dose, was searching for Novo Rapid.. It lasted four days. Worst days of my life..
Where should I write complaint? I am really, really pissed off

| | | Go to the novonordisk website they should have a complaints board there, i'm guessing you're from the states cos over here in UK you'd just go to a pharmacy or a hospital or a local doctors and they'd help you for free. Other than that i'd also carry spare syringes if i were you.

| | | I always take syringes, and always have spares in the house.
In fact, my car was broken into a few weeks ago (and my insulin pens stolen). I had to inject using syringes drawing out of a Novorapid cartridge over the weekend, while i waited for replacement pens to be sent to me.
I don't think this is a Novo issue; i think it's more about being prepared.

| | | Did the pen fail mechanically, or did the insulin go off and stop working?
If it was the insulin that went bad I don't suppose you checked it when you flew to your destination? Insulin can freeze when it is stored under the plane in the checked luggage, and there goes your insulin. Or if you carried it with you, did you go to places with temperatures that were very different from what you're used to?
If it was the actual pens that stopped working, that seems like horribly bad luck to me. I've never had a pen stop working on me. I do however always have at least one syringe with me, because I need it to take my lantus. You should bring a few syringes whenever you're going to be away for a few days.
Definitely write to Novo nordisk, I think they would be interested to find out what happened so they can prevent it for other people.
