| | | I don't recommend making milkshakes a staple of your diet, but I've had quite a few. I find the cold temps seem to help negate any potential spike in blood sugar, and as long as I have a good idea about the carb content, my two and four hour readings are generally good.

Nancy, what ice cream are you eating that is 15 carbs per cup? All I see is about 15 carbs per half cup. I could eat twice the amount of ice cream I normally do with your type. |

| | | I have never had a real milkshake with high sugar ice cream so one made with Breyer's low carb ice cream tastes great to me. One-half cup of Carb Smart has 10 carbs. I use one cup and some whole milk. I let the ice cream get a little soft so I can just stir it all together with a spoon. I make sure the milk is very cold. The whole thing has about 25 carbs. I have read that whole milk is less likely than skim milk to make you spike. It is not a big shake but it satisfies my taste for one. In the summer time i use Breyer's vanilla and mix in soft fresh peaches or presweetned berries, in which case I don't use any milk. The juice in the fruit thins the mixture enough that I can stir without adding milk.
Different strokes for different folks. LOL!

also what is a malt? Are the micky dees milkshake malts?
and how do you guys know how much is a cup? I never cook so i have no clue how much a cup is.

| | No milkshakes, but last night my fiance and I went out for a little after-dinner "date" for dessert and coffee and I had chocolate rasberry cheesecake; a whole slice... it was heaven. I just figured the approximate carbs and bolused accordingly and I was fine. Not something I'd do often; but for a special treat once in a great while, what the heck...

As for milkshakes, the only ones I don't think twice about passing up are the Shamrock Shakes at McDonalds in March... They will mix it with chocolate if you ask em too, soooooooo good!!! But wayyyyy high on the carbs! | Yes it is true dont touch fruit cause it upsets my stomach and dont touch crackers or chips .
