can having high blood sugar make you gain weight?

if you are running high more often how does that effect weight gain/loss?

also if you weigh more your insulin needs may change correct?

The more you weigh, I think the more insulin you would typically need. From what I know, keeping high numbers can cause dehydration, dying muscles, and more bad stuff -- so you would lose weight being high. The extreme of being high for weight loss is called "diabulimia". Sadly, some teens and others have learned that eating a lot of sweets and going to bed high, for example, can cause weight loss.

It depends on the reason for being high. If high blood suagr is caused by lack of insulin, like what happens with the onset of T1, weight loss is likely. But if you are high because you are insulin resistant, insulin levels will be high. This stops the burning fof at, and the extra glucose is converted to triglycerides before being stored as fat. So weight gain is likely.

When my bg is high I am more hungry. That makes me eat more and then I gain weight. It also make my BG even higher. I hate this disease.
