Which Insulins?

Okay, I know some of you here know TONS of stuff I don't even know I don't know yet, so here goes.

What rapid insulin and why?
What basil insulin and why?

Endo stuck me on Novolog and Lantus, but I read so much about others.

I'm not sure I understand it properly but I am on humalog and lantus. The humalog "covers" meals and the lantus is like background insulin.

Oh, I guess I am really just wondering about the other fast acting, and the other (levemir) long acting.

Or even a web site that does a good job at describing their actions, peaks etc...

I think both my insulins have inserts (paper) that graph the action and peak. Have you googled to find the other insulin's drug sites? I bet it would be on the drug company's sites.
