Fasting blood sugars.

I got the new Dexcom CGM the other day and it is pretty amazing. I've been modifying my basal rates while using it and I was curious what BG you guys generally like to be around. I've been keeping it a little on the high side ~ 120, but i'm thinking it might be better to lower it a little.

My endo wants me at 110 but many here are striving for even tighter control. Work slowly towards the lowest goal you can reach without hypoing a lot.

The perfect number for me would be 100. My target area is 90-110. This is what I use for when correcting a bg. My CGMS targets/alarms are set for 70 and 130. However when I first hooked up the CGMS I had the high end set around 200 and have slowly backed that number down to 130 over the past year.

Since you have the latest Dexcom, which meter are you calibrating it with. Remember most meters are only accurate +/- 20% and I believe that many of them err on the safe side. From my experiences the Dexcom also errs slightly on the safe side. So these days I'm trying to shoot for 90 as a target with the Dexcom.

I took a look at your blog and i saw that the old Dexcom required the use of a cable. Wow, that is definily a pain. I'm using the Freestyle Freedom meter to calibrate it, with no cable obviously. So far i've found that the new Dexcom is right on the money +/- no more than 10 from my meter when it comes to blood sugars that are not rapidly changing. As far as post-prandial peaks and highs over 200 i question the readings.

Thanks for the advice guys, i think i'm going to start trying to get it down around 90-100
