Amazon delivered my books 5 days early

I just received:
"Think Like a Pancreas"
"Pumping Insulin"
"Using Insulin"

I wasn't supposed to get them until next Tuesday. This is nice as I can now read them over the weekend.

I had bought the Type 2 book written by Becker when it was recommended by people on DF (I have since been diagnosed as a T1) and it was full of information so I went ahead and ordered the other recommended books.

I just realized, I don't know which one to start with!

I'm going to start with "Think Like a Pancreas" because I like the title better

Think Like a Pancreas worked well for me. For me, it was sufficient enough that I was able to transition myself over to MDI and basal/bolus without having to see a diabetes educator. But I've always been pretty decent at learning from books.

Well, I finished "think like a pancreas" on Sunday and I have to say I really liked it. It had quite a few useful chapters in it especially about insulin adjustment. The charts at the back of the book where interesting also.

The biggest thing I got out of the book was the idea about correction factors, a number to multiply insulin doses by to adjust for things like exercise and sickness. Being new to diabetes this is a new concept to me, and hopefully will help me out when exercising as I have had to feed some lows for just walking a fast paced 4.5 miles an hour and soon will be lifting weights in the morning.

I have started "Using Insulin" and will let everyone know how that one is. So far it seems like I will like this one also, it has a kind of if this happens try this feel to it so it may be a little more practical than "Think Like a Pancreas", although "Think Like a Pancreas" is a much better title
