| | | How does Stress affect you BS?? The Other day I was at a 4-h meeting and since its the end of the school year we elect new officers, I was running for
President against another girl and it ended up being a tie so thier was a re-vote, the whole entire time I was very stressed.I became very hyper (which for me that means my sugar is dropping) I went to test...guess what no test strips left..great now what do I do so I ate a snack anyways, when I got home about 40 min. later I was only 115 so I knew my sugar was low because usually when I drink a juice and it 6 peanut butter crackers my sugar would have 200 or higher. so does stress make your blood sugars go low?
Oh and by the way I didn't get ellected president instead I was elected Treasurer...

| | Sometimes stress makes me high, sometimes low. Depends on what kind of stress it is. Nervousness and other mental stress usually sends my sugar to the moon, while physical stress makes me drop like a stone- this is the main reason why i try to run at around 8mmol/l when at work... On really busy days i can go hypo incredibly fast

| | | isnt it strange how we are all so different! i go up with stress, always. had an interesting experience last weekend though. im swimming the english channel for diabetes uk; most of the 12 of us doing it are diabetic. we had our first training weekend in dover (UK) last weekend and the water temperature was 10 degrees c. i expected a rise in BG due to the adrenalin (OMG you hyperventilate when you get in that icy water), however, i went from 12 (215ish...deliberate high as wasnt sure which way it would go) to about 4 (about 75) in less than an hour. others went the other way some finishing around 17 (go on, multiply it by 18 my head is tired!)

| | I feel your pain. My bg goes up and down depending on the stress. I found stress such as pre exam nerves tend to lower my bg and despite consuming vast quantities of carbs nothing would raise my bg. In the moment stress such running out of time in an exam pushes me higher and I found the best way to deal with this was to do nothing. Ideally I would like to correct but it’s not always possible. Good luck with the elections. |

| | | Depends on the stress. Last year my dog got sick and they didn't know if she was going to make it and I was low, low and more low for days.
When my husband lost his job in February and we had no real income until the first of May when he found a new job I was fighting highs constantly.
