No it's not. Have you gotten that checked out by a doctor?

I had a few years ago but they basically said they didnt know why it happened. it hurtsssssssssssssssssssss. Maybe its sinus problems? but i've never really had problem with sinuses. They did give me some patches to put on my face that numbed it even more so it would not hurt. I guess i should go see if i have any more.

Hi Trina,

Some years ago, I had two friends who worked with me who were experiencing numbness and a frozen feeling on one side of their faces. Strangely, it turned out to be the same thing in both of them, something called Bell's Palsy which is not communicable. I had never heard of it before that.

It is worthwhile to have your symptoms checked out by a doctor because there are conditions out there that have nothing to do with diabetes. Maybe a neurologist since your cheek is feeling numb?

Wishing you the best, Mich

Yikes. I learn something new every day. Thanks Trina.

PS BP was just a thought. I sure hope you just have a pinched nerve or something instead.

Trina
I suffer from trigeminal neuralgia... anything on my face or gums can set it off, a zit, a scald in my mouth a sore gum... I think it is any time there is any swelling that puts pressure on the trigeminal nerve which runs just about across the cheekbone...
It can be very painful as if I have grazed my face and sometimes little electric shocky feelings also the numbness.
touching it is painful too.. With me it can last up to a week and it sort of moves up my head and stops in the middle when it reaches the top of my skull. I find Aspirin quite effective and I do salt water rinses in case it's mouth infection causing it...

Once, a dentist gave me a very slow diluted novacaine injection near the nerve and that seemed to fix it for several months...
It is worst when it gets the outer corner of my eye or just near my ear.... it really sounds like what you are having, so next time you are at the dentist mention it.. they seem quite familiar with it.. In my case they said it may have been caused by a dentist actually damaging the nerve when giving me freezing (getting too close?)
good luck

Tina, does not sound like Bell's Palsy to me. With Bell's you get numbness and your face droops on one side. You have trouble closing the eye on the affected side.
It comes on quickly and stays with you for weeks. Then it goes away. It does not usually reoccur.

They say it happens more with diabetics but I don't remember anyone here ever mentioning it
