Brad Paisley - Alcohol Lyrics

I can make anybody pretty
I can make you believe any lie
I can make you pick a fight
with somebody twice
your size. . .

Well I've been known to cause a few breakups
and I've been known to cause a few births
I can make you new friends
Or get you fired from work.

(Chorus)
And since the day I left Milwaukee
Lyncheburg Bourbon, France
Been makin the bars
With lots of big money
and helpin white people dance
I got you in trouble in high school
and college now that was a ball
you had some of the best times
you'll never remember with me
Alcohol, Alcohol

I got blamed at your wedding reception
for your best man's emberrasing speech
and also for those naked pictures of you at the beach
I've influenced kings and world leaders
I helped Hemingway write like he did
and I`ll bet you a drink or two that I can make you
put that lampshade on your head . .

And since the day I left Milwaukee
Lyncheburg Bourbon, France
Been makin a fool out of folks
just like you
and helpin white people dance
I am medicine and I am poison
I can help you up or make you fall
you had some of the best times
you'll never remember with me
Alcohol

And since the day I left Milwaukee
Lyncheburg Bourbon, France
Been makin the bars
With lots of big money
and helpin white people dance
I got you in trouble in high school
and college now that was a ball
you had some of the best times
you'll never remember with me
Alcohol, Alcohol

Honestly, I get S***faced drunk when I drink. I spent a year in college so far and 2 days a week I'd drink alot of beer and not remember alot. I never (knock on wood) once had a problem with lows or highs. Ive been a diabetic for 4 years now to, and for some reason I dont have any problems. YAY!

I didn't drink at all until my early twenties (diagnosed Type1 when I was 10) but I very quickly became very good at it... mostly beer.

My selective memory initially tells me that it causes no problems, but realistically, hangovers that cause me to sleep in, prevent me from eating properly, or not recognize lows have ended badly on at least a few occassions. It's definitely been a learning process.

As soon as my sugars stabilize (after my period =P ) I'm going to drink a beer and not take insulin..take insulin? for it and see what happens. I'll eat something too?

Yup some days I am fine other days i am low. Lately with my drinking I tend to run high. Really depends if I eat before hand. When I drink beer I get drunk fast. Anything hard I can handle and after a lot of shots, I am not drunk.

I am Type 1 for 31 years and like to drink. I particularly prefer dry red wine, and beer in hot days. Sometimes others like martiny, occasionaly less amount of whisky and raki (Turkish alcohol). Red wine is very good for health because includes flavonoids (antioxidants) and also reccomended by medical doctors even after myocardial infarctus. However, amount is very important, as others emphasize. To drink dry wine 120 ml/day is enough for being healthy. However I drink more sometimes. Beer, contrary to others, increases my BG. Raki and whisky are the most strenght drinks. I also measure my BG before and several times after drinking and I am very carefull to eat enough. I am also agree that to have a drink after work makes me relaxed and decreases the stress. I also want to emphasize again that anyone who wants to drink, should search her body's reactions to different kind of alcohols and should be aware of the necessity for eating enough and measuring BG more often. Wish good and healthy life to all.

Ok. So. I'm going to drink alcohol tonight finally and see what happens. My friend got a cider, it has 12g of carbs for the whole thing (it's a huge bottle) so I'll have half which is six. My question for tonight is, do I bolus for it or not? I keep hearing different things. If I bolus, and ppl say BG drops later on, then wouldn't a bolus make it go lower? And is cider ok?

...bolus or not bolus!? That is the question.

My answer is not to bolus and just test, test, test to see how it's going. But your post was almost a day ago, so how did it turn out for you?

I bolus then drop my basals to 50% one hour for every ounce of alcohol plus one hour. So I'd bolus then set a 50% temp bolus for say an hour, maybe two when I finished.

How did you make out?

Hey guys! So I ended up bolusing for it and everything turned out fine! My blood never went too low but stayed around 100 for the rest of the night! And I had lots of fun! I only drank about 5oz of cider but I got really buzzed by it since I hadn't drank anything since DX lol.
The next day my blood was fairly good, pretty normal numbers.
So thanks for the advice!!!!!!!
