Today I checked it and it was back up to 156-97 . I came home and laid down but still feel it may be up . How high is too high ? Should I go check it again, it will be 30 mile round trip ride if I do .

I' close to 59 and seem to be falling apat, haha .Just dx with type 2 D a couple mo.s ago .

Many doctors agree that a diabetics should keep their BP's at 135 or under in the long run. Of course an occasional high will occur due to stress or excitement, etc. I am 68 and my BP was 145 early last year. My doctor prescribed water pills and now my BR averages 125-130. At mt age I am satisfied with that. There are many medications that will lower BP if needed. Of course keeping very close to your ideal weight is very important to maintain a good BP level.

I recommend that you buy a good blood pressure kit at a pharmacy and test at home when you are rested and sitting down. Follow the instructionns. Good luck!

Mine is usually 120-5/70-80.

But in may or so, I was measured at 145 on my left arm and 152 on my right arm.

Might have been stress or something, no idea. didn't feel different or anything.

But since my girlfriend is becoming a nurse, she keeps monitoring my BP, and it's been steady at 120 over 70-ish for the past few months now.

So I wouldn't worry about it that one time, but if you measure it again and it's still the same, then I would consider trying to get it lower.

Blood pressure goes up and down all the time. This is normal. If you have been active, or if you are stressed for some reason, your blood pressure will go up. It sounds like the 156/97 reading is abnormally high for you. It is important that you are relaxed when you do the test, or the results will be confusing.

Funny this subject came up. I was very dizzy yesterday to the point of becoming nauseated. Finally, my husband suggested I check my blood pressure. (Two hours later we found our bp meter) and I checked. I have been hoving around 100/53 and as low as 101/49. That is odd! I guess I might need a change in meds.
