I've had trigger finger on both hands since I was 30 years old.
It's annoying since when it flares up your grip in that hand is weaker. Let me know how you make out. Maybe I'll get my trigger fingers fixed. I thought it would just flare up again so I put it off.

Georgia,
How was your surgery? I hope everything went well!!!
My surgery is tomorrow. I have had a lot of discomfort in my hand this week (I was edging and pulling weeds this weekend.)
So I think I am ready to go.

From what I understand, once they are fixed, they don't come back. The repair for my thumb was two years ago and so far no sign of a return. Works as good as new.

I have never had anything done with my fingers. Over time, I've learned how to hold them and how not to let them snap very often. I also have RA in my hands - the meds I'm on (sulfasalazine and naproxen) may be helping the trigger fingers; I don't know. Much like the RA, the triggering comes and goes . . . and I've learned to live with it. If the trigger surgery would help the RA, I might go for it . . .

Hi
I had the operation yesterday on my right hand, and the 3 fingers are sore and so is my palm where the incisions were made. I had a general anaesthetic. I keep wiggling my fingers as they do feel stiff and my index finger is still severely bent - I will require physio apparently. Also, my hand feels very cold. I go back to see the Consultant tomorrow. Obviously I am hoping for a swift recovery, I really do not like not being able to use my hand.
Betty, I hope your surgery went/goes well today. How are you feeling?
Thanks everyone

I had my surgery today. I had local anesthesia and my hand is still quite numb, so no pain. The surgeon did all 5 fingers on my left hand. The bandage is fairly tight and fingers are all warm and swollen. I have been putting ice on this evening. I hope it feels O.K. tomorrow.

Georgia, I hope you are doing well!!!

I was expecting a local anaesthetic but the Surgeon said as I needed 3 fingers doing a General would be better. Wow how was it with 5? I hope you weren't in any discomfort during the operation as that is also why my Surgeon opted for a General. I had the bandages taken off yesterday and now have to wash my hand a few times a day and apply gauze. I have the stitches removed on Tuesday. The incisions are feeling very tight but I am in a lot less pain now - yeah! How are you doing? Will you need physio?

I had no pain during the surgery and in fact, my whole hand was numb for the next 24 hrs. Now all the feeling is back. I can't take off the dress till tomorrow, but already the hand feels better than before the surgery. I guess I will see the stitches tomorrow when the dressing comes off. I go back to ortho Thursday to have the stitches out.
I can actual bend and move the fingers now BETTER that before the surgery, so I doubt I will need PT. They gave me a whole page of exercises to do with my hand and so far, it is going well.
