Hi Singh
Is really hard to determine what fasting reading in isolation are saying, particularly when you are using a pre-mixed insulin. Im not sure how your regime works in terms of how this is released and when the mealtime peaks are supposed to occur....what I would say, and im sure many others would agree, is that whilst 2 injections a day SOUNDS easier...it really really isnt. If you are on MDI your basal and bolus are completely separate so you can figure out your exact basal requirements, and then once that is clear, you can work out your carb ratios so that you are able to know exactly what to take to cover what you would like to eat. and as you get better at it you can learn even more such as timing your shots depending what you are eating to reduce your after meal peaks...i would strongly suggest that you go back to your doctor and discuss a basal/bolus regime, you will soon get over the 'inconvenience' of multiple shots and realise that they give you much more freedom in your food and lifestyle choices. I would also recommend the book 'think like a pancreas' by gary schneider, its a must read for any recently diagnosed type 1 and I think has helped many of us on this forum to manage our diabetes well.
As regards honeymoon period...personally I found mind ended in a couple of incremental stages. I would suddenly find that I did need a little more insulin and my carb ratios changed. I think at the peak of my honeymoon (when I was also training a lot and not eating a great deal) there were times when my total daily doseage would be 15 units of even less. nowadays i take 8 units lantus (long acting basal), 4.5 units NPH/isophane (medium acting to cover my overnight peak) and probably another 10 to 12 units of novorapid with food. the good news is though, once your pancrea finally gives up, things become a lot more predictable and you can be a little more aggresive with your doseages rather than be cautious and have to correct later.
Hope this helps
