| | | Trends in Blood Sugars? Good afternoon, all!
So, I have been noticing recently, that I go through trends in my blood sugar readings. i'll have a week of readings that are always higher than i want them to be, with no changes to meals, exercise, hormones or anything, and then I'll have a week of real lows, no matter what i eat. I am a type 1 diabetic on Humalog and Lantus and I carb count to match insulin. Does anyone else have trends like this?? Most of the time I'm in such good control, but with no warning, it just hits, a week of highs. |

Basically, I check for the phases of the moons of Saturn. That generally explains why my B/Gs are running the way they are.

| | | I'm trying to figure out same for my fiance...week of highs, sudden lows, and there are times under control. He thinks he's a brittle diabetic so now I'm on a search about that. He had two weeks where he was so high...going to bed high and waking up...then over the weekend constant lows. He does have good weeks but when they're out of control like this it scares me so I'm not trying to see what he can or shouldn't do in order to correct this. He's on the pump...Novalog |

{With a La Cage au Faux accent}
The trends this Season will be Miami Beach. Lots of Brightness with hints of cool green pastels, followed by Yellows and with a slight over-head décolletage for Evenings. __________________________________________________ __
Seriously, there are just times when his B/Gs are going to run rampant. I know that every so often, even though I have changed nothing, my B/Gs just start going screwy.
Then, after several days of running me ragged, tired, irritated, frustrated, things just POP back to normal.
Welcome to the wonderful world of diabetes.

| | | Well, i'm glad to know that i'm not the only one here having this issue. phew! Has anyone done "training sessions" for your friends on what to do in an emergency situation, like a low blood sugar reaction or anything like that? I'm considering a power point presentation with some really descriptive pictures. what do you think? |

| | | I've instructed my husband, and I do a pop quiz from time to time to keep him on his toes.

| | A presentation sounds like a good idea.
I instructed my bf on how to inject glucagon. I also told him to use that as a last resort, and to attempt to get me to eat/drink something, first.
After wrestling to get me to eat/drink something several times (I can get stubborn), he feels it's easier to just "shoot me up" with glucagon. (We're working on this prob.)
He's actually been pretty good about doing the "right thing" for a while. He's learning. (And it's only been a year!)
Everyone else I just tell to call 911 if I'm "out of it."
