      diabetic rash?

Does anyone else here have unusual rashes since being diagnosed? I noticed my skin's gotten worse, I have one type of rash on my left leg, it's just a brown spot, but I got it checked and know it's diabetes-related. But there's this other rash on my back, small, red, itchy spots.... they look like mosquito bites. One is like, the size of a quarter, the others the size of dimes. it's weird. And gross. But I have a feeling this may be diabetes-related as well?

      Hi there

Thats really weird, Im sure no one has made a post about it before, but i have a few different issues.....firstly, whenever I change my insulins (for example introduce a new one or play with timings) I get small itchy red bits on my arm. I used to get eczema when younger but quite unlike that. It dies down after a few days.

The other thing i continue to get is that when I work out in the gym I get a a weird blotchy heat rash which I definitely never experienced before...

My conclusion is that I am slightly sensitive to something in my insulin, probably the solution that it is in rather than the insulin itself as I dont have any issues with efficacy, and that this makes me unusually sensitive to heat or something? Who knows!!!

thanks for the reply! same here, the rash gets worse with heat. i never had it before my diabetes, so maybe insulin is the cause.

Forgive my lack of actual information, but my step-dad is type 2, on insulin, and he has had a rash that comes and goes daily since he's been on insulin, and his doctors told him it's caused by diabetes and they give him a cream for it.
I would check with your doctor.

so they think its the diabetes rather than the insulin that cause it? how is his control? mine is pretty good so it would surprise me to have anything that is directly related to having high blood sugars, perhaps its just a side effect of a screwed up metabolism!!

I know I am posting a little late, but I am attaching a pic of the rash I have received since injecting.

      Hi,
I completely sympathise and empathise with you.
Hhave you tried changing your type/brand of insulin to see whether this improves? Sometimes your body dosn't like one brand and prefers another. (I'm still looking for the right one).
Until you find the right one, don't suffer unduly, get your Dr to prescribe a topical cream and some antihistamines to give you some relief.
