| | | Shooting in the dark... I'm curious, does anyone do a good job take care of yourself "in the dark"? I mean, for quite a while, I wasn't testing (except maybe once every day or two), I watched what I ate, and did really well with taking my shots. (This was when I was on MDI.)
Now that I'm on the pump, I'm finding it much more difficult to get consistent numbers using this method. Has anyone had any "luck" doing it "in the dark"? I just can't to get it down like I used to. |

| | | Well, you could always try testing more often.... might turn out to be easier! It is for me, anyway. I test roughly every hour that I'm awake, and between tests I don't worry at all about what my BG is doing, or how I'll be able to handle an event or exercise period, or what "that little feeling" might mean; in other words, testing often makes diabetes a 15 minute a day disease rather than the 24 hour a day disease it was when I always had to keep it in the back of my mind. |

| | | I did it "in the dark" up until i was abt 28, then i just got sick of going in and out of hospital because of my own stupidity. Now i feel better and have only been in hospital when my body rejected the insulin i was on at the time. Doing it blind is IMO a silly and dangerous thing to do. |

It's just too dangerous. Having said that, I will admit that I did it "in the dark" for a solid month this year. I was just bolusing and not testing as often as I should have been. I just got to a point that I didn't care. What brought me out of it was knowing that I had friends here who really did care what happened to me, even if I didn't.

| | I was the same as I just took the insulin and only tested not enough to see if I was OK but I have taken the bull by the horns and ****** just tested more. The insulin was another matter as I was looking over the web and found that there is other insulins to try and after my stroke I have asked if would try other insulins and my endo said yeah sure and I am now a happy chappy with a good A1C and my next challenge is to slim up and I think that the D.A.F.N.E. Course will do just that. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
