weekend insulin changes vs. weekdays

HI
I'm just curious how many of have to increase your insulin doses on weekends compared to weekdays,It seems I'm constanly high on weekends my 30 day avg. is 159,but on weekends it's not uncommon for me to be in the 300's at some point.Just wondering how many other people have this problem?

In the summer I have that problem. On sundays My sugar runs in up to the 300's. I'm on the pump so I need to have a different basal rate for that day. Well even if I have a day off once in awhile or some days at work i'm just not as active i should be using a different basal rate. My rates are even different from summer to winter. It makes it alittle hard to control.
If you are not on the pump. Try increasing your long acting insulin.

mweber,

I haven't noticed any discernible difference in my insulin requirements on weekends. If anything, I tend to be more active on weekends and run a little low in readings.

Sounds like it could be related to different eating or exercise habits?

you are usually higher on saturday and sunday because your routine changes and you eat more ....and sometimes not as active as you are during a regular weekday....i run all different on the weekends during the week im pretty much the same...so yea i see a different pattern on the weekend

Hello all, I normally work six days a week so during this time
my b/s readings run fairly well, but mine also run high on Sundays
it aggravates me, but for one day I normally will not change my
dosage. My b/s readings have done this for years.

I tend to run high on the weekends as well as everyone else. I know that it's because I feel that these two days are mine and I tend to relax a little more than I normally would during the week.

I would adjust my insulin on Sundays if that were the case, just because i'm pretty obsessive about control!
