| | Fever, Chills, Ketones (large) and diaherrea. I have ketones (large), a fever, diaherrea, chills, and I can't eat.
I've had a fever since really early this morning, I've had ketones since yesterday, chills since yesterday, I am extremely sore all over, my chest hurts.
Hmm...sounds a little like the Flu to me.
what about you guys?? |

| | Sounds like you need antibiotics for that strep infection.

| | My mom and boyfriend said I need to go to the ER also.
I've been fighting them on that though. Only because i can't afford it. I could go and just do what I do with my other medical bills...throw them away.
I try to avoid hospitals at all costs. I don't want to be in there for a couple days, and be uncomfortable as uncomfortable can get. My blood sugars...surprisingly I've been able to keep them down around a normal level though (120's). But yet I still have ketones, and all that good stuff I listed up there.
Ehh, I guess I could have my mom take me to the Urgent Care Center where I know for a fact they can't keep me because its not a normal hospital, but there is that possibillity they could send me to the normal ER though.
I don't know, I'll wait it out and see how I feel in a couple hours. It does always seem to get worse at night though.
Ughh, sometimes I wish I wasn't so stubborn and would just listen.
I'll keep you all posted on the outcome of this battle |

| | | There's no "affording" an ER.. they can't refuse you service. It's not McDonalds.

| | | Nicole - please go to the Urgent Care Center if you won't go to the ER - don't mess with this, it really needs to be checked out. I am glad that your blood sugars are relatively normal BUT the ketones are sending you a message - SOS
Like your mom and your boyfriend as well as everyone else here, I think you need to take action.
Feel better soon.

| | I agree with everyone! You should get help, something is seriously wrong! Are you drinking some kind of liquid? Try not to get dehydrated, dehydration is really bad for diabetics.
Good luck!!!

| | | I used to work at a hospital. They don't tell you this, but most hospitals have this. It was called something like a "charity discount form." It goes off of your income. So if you have medical bills with them, they adjust off part of the bill according to your income. So unless your rich, you could really use this. Even if it just saves you 20%-40%. You should check it out, then you will be less likely to NOT go to the hospital when you need to. Take care of yourself.

| | | I went to the hospital in May of 2007. Had to spend 3days-2nights in there and was billed about $2000 after insurance. I contacted the hospitals financial dept and asked about payment plans/assistance. The VERY helpful person I spoke to sent me forms to fill out for a program about community assistance. After filling out the forms with all the information and attaching a few pay stubs and a copy of my lease, The hospital sent me back a letter stating that they had completely written off the dept from that stay and an ER visit for a very bad bloody nose.
Its worth looking into Nicole, especially when its your health that may suffer otherwise. |

| | | I checked my temp again when I got up and it was 99.4 again.
I have had a slight fever for 3 days now. I couldn't sleep last night, I wound up moving down to the couch around 8 this morning, finally got a couple hours in. I haven't slept much the past few days. And I have been drinking water like a fish, non-stop. I finish a bottle I go and fill it up and so on. Really still haven't ate much.
I still have a nasty cough. So far everything is still the same. I feel a little better because I took some Ibproufen. But the second that wears off I feel like **** again. |

Your liver starts oxidizing fatty acids as an energy supply when it doesn't have glucose or much glycogen present. Keytones aren't a bad thing, only at hight levels as they can cause ketoacidosis when they're converted to acetone. If your fever doesn't go away go see a doctor immediately.

| | | it sounds like a kidney infection of some sort... a fever isn't always present with some infections, and the constant drinking is a sign that something is up with your kidneys... a regular clinic can do a test for a kidney infection, so don't worry too much... and i don't know about where you are, but i've found that most hospitals won't keep you in unless you're at deaths door, even diabetics...
just as an example, a few years back, i was an extra in movie and i had to walk around from 7am to 3pm, my feet were sore but i kept walking for the scenes... when it was time for a break, i took my boots off (it was wintery scene) and my socks were blood soaked...
i had "walked" the balls of my feet off, from the arch to the toes on both feet... the skin was gone, my feet looked like hamburger (sorry if anyone is eating) and when i went to the ER, i waited for over 8 hours and finally gave up and decided to put some non-adhesive gauze on my feet (i was lucky to be with my parents)... the next morning, i went to my local clinic, saw a doctor in an hour, they cut the excess skin off, put some cream for 3rd degree burns on them, wrapped them up and i was sent home with a prescription for the cream and bandages...
2 days later, for the check-up, my feet were doing extremely well and today, i have nothing to show for it, other than some rough skin on the area where the skin grew back...
the moral of this long story... i got better treatment at my local clinic than at the hospital...
really, get checked out soon...

Nicole, you know you are sick, you know you have ketones, you think you have strep, you have not eaten in days and have been running a temp for days. How much proof do you need that you need some medical help.
If you feel like cr@p as soon as the Ibproufen it means you are only treating the symptoms and not actually treating the source of the infection.
Please stop messing around with this, go to the ER or clinic.
