Diabetic Relatives

I have got two close family diabetic relatives

My grandfather, Norman (type 2, died 1993) aged about 63

My uncle John (type 1, critically ill in hospital) in his 40's
So if my uncle dies, I'll be the only one, and it will be very strange not having any relatives or friends to talk to about my diabetes and how to treat it. |:|

Thanks K, tell me, who am I with so I'm not alone? I know you guys, but ya know, like, I don't have any friends who are...so like who...arr lol I don't know what I'm saying
What I'm waiting for now is either the call from my auntie who is telling me he has died or telling me he's recovering. It was horrible, he was spitting up blood and everything!

Except for the forum, I dont have any1 i personally know that is diabetic. I have no1 that i can relate to. And it very hard, becuz there are times I want to talk with som1 about certain things related to diabetes... but i have no1.

Im not sure about your area, but i remember at my Endo's office, they always had flyers that posted the dates of Diabetics Meetings. Ive never gone to one, but they are usually open to all diabetics, you can meet other diabetics in your area and talk. You should check it out.

And im sorry to hear about your grandfather and uncle.

Thanks

I actually never met my grandfather, but I know my uncle very well, so it would be so hard to be able to live without him, because as a child, we both shared a large interest in magic, and he half-works for the Magic Circle, and he taught me all these great tricks. Thanks for the tip about diabetics in my area

My grandpa is a type 2 that takes insulin now.
My great-grandpa was a type 1- he passed away in 2001.

My best friend is a type 1, and thats how we met.

Cool My uncle who is in hospital is a teacher in Swansea, I think...or is it Bridgend? No, I think it's Bridgend, oh well Wouldn't mind going to one of these meetings sometime, is there one for Welsh diabetics or is it organized by province? If it is sometimes held for the whole country, maybe we'll see eachoth er

Try not having any at all.
I'm an orphan.
I go to new doctors and fill out the input form and in the relative history put a line through it. the nurse always asks me at least twice "you don't know your parental history?" Sort of ticks me off.

If you're a Canadian you know about my past. Think Butter Box Babies.

Sorry if I sound less than nice.
