| boils are actually in the blood and not caused by blood sugar levels going up... my whole family has/had boils, as i did before i became diabetic... it's more like a virus in the blood, like staph... which is one of the forms of a boil...
i had a rather nasty one on my upper right thigh back in june of 97, it was golf ball sized above the skin, no local could numb it because an infection (a boil is just that, an infection) can't be numbed... the doctor at the er eventually got it open and they put gauze packing in it, i went for 24 hour dose antibiotics by IV for 10 days afterwards (at the hospital), i have a scar from it, but the boil had become black within a day... i was told because of the blood that was there... i was also told that i now test positive for staph in my blood...
if it gets any bigger or hurts even more, go see a doctor to get it checked... usually it means some bacteria is in your blood and is looking for a way out...
i no longer have boils now, likely due to the diabetic coma i had in november 99, my blood was crystalizing in my veins... not sure if that did something to it, but i ain't complaining... also, one of my sisters (who also had boils) got into and accident in 87, where her blood was practically all transfused, since then, she hasn't had a boil...
since you're diabetic, i wouldn't suggest treating this yourself, so a doctor is your best bet...
