| | | Normal? Here's something I probably should bring to my doctor's attention...but I hate getting any more bad news. When my bs starts getting low, I lose sensation in my hands and feet, and the longer I go, it travels to my arms and legs. It's sorta like they're going to sleep. I look at them to make sure they're still there sort of thing. Is this normal or am I starting to have issues with circulation? |

| | | Over the years I've had diabetes, my low symptoms have varied quite a bit.
For a while, I was getting tingly lips when low. Other times, I notice because I get extremely active right before with no obvious symptoms. I used to sweat, but hardly do that anymore. Other times I get ravenously hungry; still others, I am appalled by food, and that's how I know I'm low. Lately, I get a litte voice that says, check your bg.
I think you are ok -- we'll see what others think . . .

| | When you are low, your body is trying to operate outside its normal working parameters... so what you need to focus is on how to combat the lows rather than what symptoms you have when you are low.
The analogy I find most useful is a house-plant; which needs just the right soil pH, just the right amount of water, sunlight, air, heat etc... too much or too little of any of the above and the plant will suffer.
Our bodies are much the same; in requiring just the right external and internal environment to be healthy... in our case, too much or too little BG and we suffer.
We don't fix a plant's symptom of wilting leaves by propping the leaves up with sticks... we correct the underlying problem which is probably too little water
I have found that increasing the proportion of fat and protein in my diet has heped to maintain stable BG levels through the day... less spikes and fewer dips.

| | | The first question that pops into my mind is...
How low are you talking?

| | | i think its normal.... i get various symptoms as well...this morning i got low after i had already eaten a big breakfast (over estimated the insulin) and i tried to eat some sugary cereal and almost vomited. And other times, i just want to shove food in my face. i have noticed that when i am already full and i get low, I can't "stomach" the thought of food. So, i drink juice. i get a tingley sensation in my limbs sometimes too... |

| | | During hypo's your brain does not work normally. Since your brain and nervous system are highly coupled, it makes sense that any part of either would not function normally.
One of the symptoms I watch for are muscle spasms. I had a slight twitch this morning as I was drifting in and out of sleep. I flt fine but didn't test before showering like I normally do. I didn't pre-bolus either, only because of that spasm. When I got around to breakfast, I tested at 2.9!
Use any such lacks of feelings, numbness, spasms, and twitches as indications of hypos. |

| | | All such symptoms look normal in your case to me hodgsonsurvivor,I have found that my daughter start feeling of hypo when her BS slips below 70,in such case always keep some apple with you it brings sugar up very fast. For ex.once my daughter's BS was at 40mg,I gave her 3 small portions of apple(say 40 grams)and in 15 mins her BS was 99.

| | | So...what I'm hearing is that this is normal and that I don't have to worry that my cholesterol has somehow clogged my arteries making my circulation crappy and that the "tingly" feelings are just coincidental. |
