I am using the inside of my upper thigh. I thought this was going to be real painful. It hurt way less than my abdomen. I do not have any extra fat in either place either. Most people cringe at the thought of it being there but it is out of the way and does not bother me at all.

Which part of your leg are you using? I use the outside of my thighs, not the top, the sides. I find that really comfortable. Sometimes I have a little initial discomfort from the effect of shooting in the needle but once it is removed after about a minute, I am just fine. Do you have a diabetes educator who started you off on the CGMS? Can you talk to her/him? Sorry that I cannot help more. Remember it is not the end of the world if you have to fingerstick for a bit while you get it all sorted out. Don't panic!

I also use the "love handles" on my back as I have adequate "padding" there. And during the winter months when I wear long sleeves I also wear the sensors on the backs of my arms.

I can reach some of the spots on the love handles, but my husband usually does those and the spots on the backs of my arms.

There is some stinging involved upon insertion, but it doesn't really bother me...
